β¦ Synopsis
In this case study, the use of methods of multivariate statistical analysis appropriate for compositional data show that the chemical composition of the shell of the shallow-water marine ostracod species Leptocythere psamrnophifa depends not only on seasonal factors but also on geographical location, possibly in relation to urban pollution in the latter case. This result differs in part from a previous analysis of the same data in which inappropriate statistical procedures were employed.
