✦ Synopsis

Abstract

meso‐and dl‐Diastereomers of a number of α,α′‐disubstituted succinic acids have been shown to give different ^13^C NMR chemical shifts. The results can be satisfactorily explained on the basis of their conformational analyses. A discussion of the observed chemical shifts is presented, and the preferred conformation for each of several compounds is predicted on the basis of these chemical shifts.

A ^13^ C NMR spectral study of 29 arylporphyrin derivatives is presented. In all of the tetrasubstituted and trisubstituted compounds examined the α- and β-carbons exhibited the expected broadened signals. In complete contrast, the diphenylporphyrins all showed sharp α- and β-carbon peaks which faci

The 13C NMR spectra of five pairs of 18p-and 18r~-ll-oxooleanolic acid derivatives have been assigned. The chemical shifts of C-12, C-13, C-17, C-18 and C-28 are of diagnostic value for the determination of the DIE junction stereochemistry. KEY WORDS "C NMR 18p-11 -oxooleanolic acid derivatives 18a-
