โœฆ Synopsis

Information architecture has recently emerged as an important meta-discipline concerned with the design, implementation, and maintenance of digital information spaces for human access, navigation, and use. Though the interest is new, the term has been used for several years to describe the mix of competencies required to produce information resources that enhance human abilities to explore and locate information. In this special issue we invite authors to examine this topic in an original and challenging manner. We do not seek rigid definitions or demand adherence to a fixed view of what Information Architecture (IA) means. Instead, we invite both short and full-length contributions that can help shape our understanding of IA, explore the role IA may play in information systems design, challenge our thinking about information design, and even question the need for such a meta-discipline.
