During all January, 1946, pus continued to issue from It contained cocci in small numbers, diplo-the wound. REFERENCES cocci, and colon bacilli which did not seem sensitive to penicillin. Also many B. proteuswere present. Thegeneral condition of the patient was steadily improving, however.
On Jan. 6 and Jan. 11, 1946, pockets of pus were drained in the lower part of the wound. The upper part which led down to the site of the excision was at this time healed.
