✦ Synopsis
The title complex, [Zn~2~(C~11~H~15~N~2~O)~2~Cl~2~] or [__L__ZnCl]~2~, where L is the 2-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyliminomethyl]phenolate anion, is obtained by the reaction of __L__ZnEt with CDCl~3~ or by the reaction of __L__H with ZnCl~2~ in refluxing tetrahydrofuran. The Zn atoms in the dimeric complex are bridged by the O atoms of the phenolate anions, and the coordination geometry around each Zn atom is distorted square-based pyramidal. The two Cl atoms lie on the same side of the central Zn~2~O~2~ plane.

The title compound, [ZnBr~2~(C~13~H~19~ClN~2~O)], is a mononuclear Schiff base zinc(II) complex. The Zn atom in the compound is four-coordinated by one imine N and one phenolate O atom of the Schiff base ligand and by two terminal bromide anions in a tetrahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, m
