✦ Synopsis
The dinuclear title compound, [Sn~2~(CH~3~)~2~(C~6~H~5~)~2~(C~7~H~3~NO~4~)~2~(H~2~O)~2~]·2CHCl~3~, crystallizes as a dichloroform solvate; the centrosymmetric compound has Sn in a seven-coordinate, trans-pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry. The dicarboxylate unit is tetradentate; it binds through the N and the two O atoms (one from the dianion); one of the O atoms that is involved in coordination forms a bridge to the other Sn atom.

Two Co II ions are bridged by two methylbenzoate (MBZ) anions and one water molecule. Each Co II ion displays a distorted octahedral co
The title compound, [Mn 2 (C 7 H 3 NO 4 ) 2 (H 2 O) 5 ]Á2H 2 O, has been prepared from the hydrothermal reaction of manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid. It is isostructural with the analogous Co II , Ni II , Cu II and Zn II compounds.
The title yttrium(III) coordination polymer, {[Y~2~(C~7~H~3~NO~4~)~2~(C~2~O~4~)(H~2~O)~4~]·3H~2~O}~__n__~, has a pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylate (PDC) and oxalate (ox) bridged layer-type structure. The central yttrium ion exhibits a distorted dodecahedral configuration, coordinated by eight O atoms from
