In the twofold-symmetric dinuclear title compound, [Ag 2 (C 14 H 11 N 3 S) 2 (CH 3 CN) 2 ](CF 3 SO 3 ) 2 , each Ag I atom is coordinated by one N atom and one S atom from one 8-(pyrimidin-2-ylsulfanylmethyl)quinoline ligand, one N atom from a second 8-(pyrimidin-2-ylsulfanylmethyl)quinoline ligand,

✦ Synopsis
The title mononuclear complex, [Ag(C 15 H 12 N 2 S) 2 ]CF 3 SO 3 , reveals the molecular symmetry C 2 with the Ag atom located on a crystallographic twofold axis. The Ag I centre is coordinated by two pyridine N-donors of two 8-(4pyridylsulfanylmethyl)quinoline ligands in an almost linear geometry. The N-Ag-N angle is 173.06 ( 18) and the Ag-N distance is 2.129 (3) A ˚.

The title compound, {[Ag(bpe)](OTf)} n (OTf = tri¯uoromethanesulfonate) or {[Ag(C 12 H 12 N 2 )](CF 3 O 3 S)} n , has been prepared from the reaction of 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpe) and Ag(CF 3 SO 3 ) in MeCN/H 2 O. The Ag I atom is twocoordinate in a slightly distorted linear arrangement, and the
