In the title complex, [Ni(C 9 H 9 N 2 O) 2 ], the Ni 2+ ion is coordinated by two 2-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)phenolate ligands. Each ligand provides one O atom and one N atom to the Ni coordination, giving a total coordination number of 4. The centrosymmetric complex adopts a square-planar geometry.

In the title complex, [Zn(C 18 H 14 N 4 O 2 )]ÁCH 3 OH, two anionic 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)phenolate bidentate ligands coordinate through the phenolate O and imidazolyl N atoms to the central Zn II atom to give a four-coordinate tetrahedral geometry.
