## Abstract The behaviour of bicyclo [2.2.2]octa‐2,5‐diene (1) towards perbenzoic acid, 2,4 dinitrophenylsulfenyl chloride and ozone has been studied. In no instance was the formation of a homotricyclene derivative by homoconjugative addition observed. However, the primary formation of homoallylic
SS2-e HS,-=Z H,S, were obtained readily, furnishing the pK's of H,S,. The solutions of the lower polysulfides, however, do not contain simply the anions present in the lattice of the solid salt. As soon as the solid salts are dissolved disproportionation reactions take place giving rise to mixtures.
## Abstract The bromination of bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene‐(2,5) (1) leads to a mixture of __trans__‐2,3‐dibromo‐bicyclo[2.2.2]octene‐(5) (9) and __trans__‐3,5‐dibromo‐homotricyclene (7a) in the ratio 7:3. This result is explained by __endo__ addition of bromine to (1) with formation of an intermediate
