✦ Synopsis

Abstract

An ultra‐wideband (UWB) square slot antenna with a band‐notched characteristic is presented. The proposed antenna has a simple configuration and is easy to construct. The ultra‐wideband operation is realized by loading an offset rectangular stub at the end of the microstrip feed line. The band‐notched characteristic is achieved by embedding an U‐like slot in the rectangular stub. The notched frequency band can be controlled by adjusting the length of the U‐like slot. A design example for an UWB (3.1–10.6 GHz) square slot antenna with a notched frequency band at 5 GHz is demonstrated. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
