AbstractnThe paper describes the synthesis of nine azulene analogs of the benzenoid pharmacologic agent lidocaine, as part of a study of the pharmacodynamic effects of nonbenzenoid aromatic compounds. Two series of compounds were prepared: 1-azulyl amides and 1-amido-3-acetyl azulenes.
