A dimeric derivative of ethidium is used for fluorimetric assay of nucleic acids. Due to the very high binding affinity of this derivative for DNA and RNA, a significant increase of sensitivity of the ethidium fluorimetric technique for nucleic acids determination is obtained. Using a commercially a
