The new chiral complex [ PtQ{ (S) -( -) -MeOBIPHEP) 1, where MeOBIPHBP is the atropoisomeric cliphosphine 2,2'- bis( diphenylphosphino) -6,6'-dimethoxy-1,l '-biphenyl, has been synthesized. In the presence of SnCl, this species is an efficient catalyst for the asymmetric hydroformylation of styrene.

If phosphorus ligands have found a tremendous development for homogeneous catalysis, they sometimes offer disadvantages, like tedious synthesis or sensitivity toward air and moisture. Chiral thioureas have been synthesized and used as ligands for the asymmetric hydroformylation of styrene catalysed
