β¦ Synopsis
The new chiral complex [ PtQ{ (S) -( -) -MeOBIPHEP) 1, where MeOBIPHBP is the atropoisomeric cliphosphine 2,2'- bis( diphenylphosphino) -6,6'-dimethoxy-1,l '-biphenyl, has been synthesized. In the presence of SnCl, this species is an efficient catalyst for the asymmetric hydroformylation of styrene. Asymmetric inductions are higher than those attainable using the system [ PtCl,[ (R) -( + )-BINAP] ] /SnCl,, where BINAP is 2,2'-bis( diphenylphosphino) -1,l '-binaphthyl. The influence of CO and H2 partial pressures on the catalytic activity of the [ PtCl,( (S)-( -)-MeOBIPHEP) ] /SnCl, system has also been studied.
