✦ Synopsis

The Co^III^ atom in the title compound, Co(C~2~H~8~N~2~)~2~(OH)(H~2~O)·H~2~O, exhibits an octahedral coordination geometry, with the hydroxide and water ligands occupying cis sites. Adjacent cations are linked into linear chains through hydrogen-bonded OH...OH~2~ units. The Co^III^ atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and the naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate dianion lies on a centre of inversion.
