✦ Synopsis

The measured equation of invariance MEI is a newly developed computational method which allows finite-difference or finite-element meshes to be terminated very [ ] closely to objects of interest 1 . In this paper, it is demontrated that the MEI method may be applied to layered structures where the Green's functions are known. In that case, the MEI method is applied almost as conveniently as it is in free space, except that the Green's function is changed to that of the layered structures.

Only a slight difference appears around the resonance frequency. As m increases, HB responses become less smooth.

The invariant embedding principle was applied to obtain closed analytical expressions of several magnitudes of interest in electron probe microanalysis [ ionization distribution function, /(qz) backscattering probability, etc. ] . This approach permits one easily to obtain solutions for a model whic

In this paper, we demonstrate that Ewald's method can be employed to speed up the con¨ergence of complex images as well as quasidynamic images in the spatial-domain Green's function of planar periodic structures in layered media. A comparison of the con¨ergence speed of Ewald's method ¨ersus spectra
