Abstract
A method is described for the determination of low concentrations (OβORβIβO mg./l.) of methyl bromide, based on the length of the colour stain produced by the reaction of the bromine in the combustion products with fluorescein paper. The length of the stain is directly proportional to the concentration, provided certain factors are controlled. The effect of these factors is discussed and an apparatus is described which automatically controls them. The method has been shown to be applicable to hydrogen cyanide and carbon tetrachloride, and it is believed to be suitable for any gas for which a suitable test paper exists.
