β¦ Synopsis
The addltlon of an excess of NH: has been found totally to suppress the competmg chlormatlon reactlons that ha{e caused problems in all prewously pubhshed applications of the chloramme-T-Phenol Red method for trace bromide analysis As a result of this, the dynamic range of the method has been extended four-fold (from 35 to 150 PM, 2 8 to 12 pg ml-' bronude) wthout sacrificing sensltwlty or precwon By addmg an lornc strength buffer (1 M NaNO,) and NH: (15 mM) to both cahbratlon and test samples the concentration of bromide can be accurately measured m solutions contammg up to 2 M chlonde

A new catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of oxalic acid has been described, based on its catalytic effect on the redox reaction between dichromate and rhodamine B, measured at the maximum absorption wavelength of 555 nm in sulphuric acid. Under the optimum conditions o
