Abstract
The complexes of Fe(II), Zn(II) and VO(II) with salicylic acid have been prepared. Composition (ML~2~.2H~2~O) and structure of these complexes were established by elemental analyses and IR spectra. The thermal decomposition of these complexes using TG, DTG and DTA together with the analyses of intermediate products gave supporting evidence for the assigned structure. Thermal decomposition starts with dehydration and subsequently the anhydrous complex decomposes into corresponding metal oxide as the end product. Their dehydration temperature Increases with the increase in the coordinated water frequency. Thermal stability of the metal complexes increases in the order Fe>Zn>VO.
