Abstract
This paper presents an extension to the Matrix Transfer Method which gives quadratic convergence to a natural frequency from within a range on either side.
The method is described and illustrated by application to:
A torsional vibration problem, and
A lumped mass beam vibration problem.

A new simpler solution procedure is presented for the finite element analysis of creep problems. The creep strains are eliminated as computation variables. At each time step, a system is solved for the stresses and velocities alone.
Ten analogs of the peptide A-Phe(NO+Phe-Val-Leu-B were synthesized and tested as sub strates for cathepsin D and pepsin. The best substrate found for cathepsin D, Phe-Ala-Ala-Phe(NO,)-Phe-Val-Leu-OM4P (& = 2.9 s-l; K,,, = 7.1 PM), has the largest k&K,,, value (408 mM-' s-r) reported to date for thi
