Abstract
An efficient largeβscale carbonβ14 synthesis of 1__H__βindazoleβ[3β^14^C]carboxylic acid starting from [^14^C]potassium cyanide is reported. Key transformations encountered during the synthesis include aromatic nucleophilic substitution of 2βnitrofluorobenzene by ethyl [^14^C]cyanoacetate, a mild decarbethoxylation and an aniline nitrosation/cyclization.
