Abstract

An efficient large‐scale carbon‐14 synthesis of 1__H__‐indazole‐[3‐^14^C]carboxylic acid starting from [^14^C]potassium cyanide is reported. Key transformations encountered during the synthesis include aromatic nucleophilic substitution of 2‐nitrofluorobenzene by ethyl [^14^C]cyanoacetate, a mild decarbethoxylation and an aniline nitrosation/cyclization.
