Biopsy and monary function tests reveal a normal forced expiratory volume, vital capacity, and flow-volume curve. mapping of the lesion were performed at the time of direct laryngoscopy, revealing an ulcerative lesio

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Background. Primary adenocarcinoma of the larynx is a rare neoplasm. The incidence is reported as less than 1% of all laryngeal neoplasms in multiple series. Simultaneous primary adenocarcinoma and a solitary squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx is even rarer and only one case has been found on review of the literature.
Methods. A case report of a 74βyearβold man with a history of rightβsided throat pain, odynophagia, and progressive hoarseness is presented with a review of the literature pertaining to this unusual case.
Results. The patient was found to have three distinctly separate laryngeal lesions on direct laryngoscopy. Histopathologic diagnosis of adenocarcinoma was made on one of the three biopsied sites with the other sites being squamous cell carcinoma. Following Combined radiotherapy and surgical treatment, the patient has remained free of disease.
Conclusions. Adenocarcinoma of the larynx is an infrequent and lethal disease. This case report and a review of the literature demonstrate that aggressive surgical management is indicated, although still may not result in improved survival. Β© 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Two cell kinetic parameters, the 3H-thymidine labeling index (TLI) and the mitotic index (MI), were studied in vitro on fragments of squamous cell carcinoma tissue of the larynx. They were evaluated to identify those elements able to characterize the growth of these solid tumors. The values of these
## Alterations of gene expression in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cell lines derived from the larynx and keratinocytes derived from adjacent normal mucosa of the larynx have been studied using the mRNA differential display technique. Lane-to-lane comparison of reverse transcribed mRNA showed a st
Cytogenetic analysis of short-term cultures from 105 squamous cell carcinomas of the larynx (LSCC) revealed clonal chromosome aberrations in 56 tumors. Simple karyotypic changes (less than four aberrations per clone) were found in 24 cases, and the remaining 32 tumors had complex karyotypes with mul
