✦ Synopsis

In the title complex, [Cu(C 4 O 4 )(C 12 H 8 N 2 )(H 2 O) 2 ]Á2H 2 O, the Cu II centre exhibits a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry, defined by two N atoms from a 1,10phenanthroline (phen) molecule, one O atom from an acetylenedicarboxylate dianion (ace 2À ), and two O atoms from two coordinated water molecules.
