## Snmmary -The absorption of SO, by water and by aqueous solutions of IICl, NaHSOa and NaCl using relatively long wetted-wall columns (12 to 22 cm) with no gas phase m&t&x has been investigated. The results of the investigation show (1) that ln the presence of small concentrations of a surface ac

A study has been made of the absorption of SO2 by water flowing in a lamhrar Alm over the surface of single spheres and columns of spheres. By means of the penetration theory it is possible to correlate the data for spheres of radii from 1 to 8 cm, and for columns containing up to fourteen spheres.
