## Abstract A general competitive method is described for the study of the kinetics of the reactions of radicals with halogens and interhalogen compounds in the gas phase. The method is applied to the reactions equation image over the temperature range of 48ยฐโ199ยฐC. It is found that where ฮ=2.30

โฆ Synopsis
Absolute photoabsorption cross sections at room temperature are reported for C12 . In addition, cross sectional data for BrCI were deconvoluted using a semi-logarithmic gaussian distribution function into a UV band centered at 228.3 nm, a C lrl~ band centered at 376.4 nm, a B 3Iio + band centered at 454.9 nm, and an A3II1 band centered at 533.1 nm. The BrCI band maximum at approximately 228 nm of 6.0ร 10 -20 cm 2 molecule -~ was assigned to a transition from the X leo+ ground state to a repulsive 0 + electronic state by analogy with similar UV bands present in IC! and IBr. Finally, an absorbance maximum was also detected for Br2 at 227 nm of 0.96 ร 10 -20 cm 2 molecule -~.

## Abstract The reaction of propadiene with Br~2~, BrCl, and Cl~2~ is studied in various solvents and at different temperatures. It is shown that only partial addition takes place, and further that the initial attack of the Hal^+^ ion takes place at the central C atom. The findings are interpreted
