✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The reaction of propadiene with Br~2~, BrCl, and Cl~2~ is studied in various solvents and at different temperatures. It is shown that only partial addition takes place, and further that the initial attack of the Hal^+^ ion takes place at the central C atom. The findings are interpreted as the result of the formation of the intermediary carbonium ion, stabilized by resonance: magnified image.

In the reaction with Cl~2~, propargyl chloride is formed besides 2,3‐dichloro‐propene. The way in which the former product is formed, is discussed.

## Abstract A general competitive method is described for the study of the kinetics of the reactions of radicals with halogens and interhalogen compounds in the gas phase. The method is applied to the reactions equation image over the temperature range of 48°–199Β°C. It is found that where Θ=2.30

The mechanisms of the SH (SD) radicals with Cl2 (R1), Br2 (R2), and BrCl (R3) are investigated theoretically, and the rate constants are calculated using a dual-level direct dynamics method. The optimized geometries and frequencies of the stationary points are calculated at the MP2/6-311G(d,p) and M
