✦ Synopsis

A simple and rapid HPLC assay is reported for the measurement and kinetic study of transketolase. The assay consists of monitoring the rate of conversion of j'$ hydroxypyruvate and glycolaldehyde to L-erythrulose.

The assay is also useful in monitoring transketolase catalysed biotransformations for all reactions which utilise P-hydroxypyruvate as a method of driving the reaction to completion.
