The compressive strength of concrete is shown to be increased by the presence of sodium chloride or ocean salts in the mixing water. The strength was found to increase with increasing salinity even up to 7% by weight of water. Nous avons remarqu~ que la r~sistance a la compression du b~ton augmenta

โฆ Synopsis
In order to study the strength of concrete, cement-based composite material specimens with different volume fractions (lo%, 20%, and 30% ) of aggregate and two water/(cement+ silicamme) ratios (w/b=0.28 and 0.6) were cast and tested. Theoretical analysis was investigated in this study by employing the theory of micromechanics. A new approach is proposed to obtain the average stress fields of inhomogeneities and matrix by use of the equivalent inclusion method and the concept of Mori-Tanaka theory. The uniaxial compressive strength of cement-based composite materials can be considered as a function of component properties of composite, and the volume fraction of aggregate. The compressive strength of concrete is controlled by the weakest component. The comparison is also made between theoretical results and the experimental data. copyright 0 1996 E~S~VW SCWIC~ Ltd

A method for estimating the compressive strength of concrete from physical characterization of ground cement is developed. The estimation method is based on data obtained from a granulometry curve of ground cement and a so-called shrinking unreacted core model. It is shown that the model gives ess
## This paper presents a theoretical method to predict the compressive strength of sulfur-infiltrated concrete (SIC) as the sulfur loading varies. The method is based on two hypotheses, introduced in this paper, on the mechanism of sulfur infiltration. Equations have been derived to find the com
