โฆ Synopsis
The Humphries-James-Luckhurst theory of liquid crystalline mixtures is extended to include different sized components.
The theory is able to predict the concentration dependence of the nematic-isotropic transition temperature for the binary mixture of 4,4'dimethoxyazoxybenzene and 4,4'di-rr-hexylosyazoxybenzene in complete accord with experiment.

The helical twisting power p-t of binary cholestcric mixtures has been measured as a function of mole fraction x. Whenever the molecular structure of the components is different the function p -I(X) deviates considerably from Linearity. In scme cases unexpected heliwl inversions had been obscrvcd. T
