The Humphries-James-Luckhurst theory of liquid crystalline mixtures is extended to include different sized components. The theory is able to predict the concentration dependence of the nematic-isotropic transition temperature for the binary mixture of 4,4'dimethoxyazoxybenzene and 4,4'di-rr-hexylos
