The first 'one-pot' asymmetric synthesis of ruthenium tris(bipyridine) derivatives starting from corresponding racemic ruthenium bis(bipyridine) complexes is described. This is achieved through the stereocontrolled formation of reactive intermediates derived from (R)-(+)-or (S)-(-)-methyl p-tolyl su
