β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
A total of 50 PseudomonasβAchromobacter strains and 35 Enterobacteriaceae were tested on a selective medium for triamineoxidase activity. Stab inoculations of the organisms were made in a solid medium containing peptone, trimethylamineoxideβhydrochloride (TMAO Β· HCl), optimum concentrations of Na and Mg for TMAO reduction and phenolred. Inoculated test tubes were incubated under anaerobic conditions. Positive results were obtained within 12β18 h. Klebsiella spp., however, gave false negative results. In no case false positive results were obtained.
