A s u l p h a t e -r e d u c i n g culture of the genus Desulfovibrio was directly inhibited by the h y d r o g e n sulp h i d e (H2S) p r o d u c e d . Batch e x p e r i m e n t s carried out at p H 6.2 a n d 6.6 show that c o m p l e t e i n h i b i t i o n is achieved for a l m o s t the same H2S c o n c e n t r a t i o n o f app r o x i m a t e l y 550 m g / l .
