β¦ Synopsis
A procedure for the preparation of a radioiodinated derivative of ganglioside GMl has been devised. Carbon 6 of the terminal galactosyl residue of GMI was converted to an aldehyde by galactose oxidase. The adduct formed by this oxidation product of GMI with tyramine was reduced with sodium cyanoborohydride. The tyramine moiety covalently attached to GMl was then labelled by the conventional iodine chloride procedure. The technique described herein is simple and economical for the preparation of a highly radioactive G M l derivative.

A new chemical procedure is described for preparing labelled GM1 molecular species, carrying as acyl moiety pyrene-decanoic acid, 5-doxyl-stearic acid and 16-doxyl-stearic acid. It makes use of a mixed anhydride formed by ethylchloroformate and the labelled acyl chain, as the reagent for N-acylation
## Abstract Development of an ^123^Iβlabeled glucose derivative that interacted with hexokinase was attempted. By introducing a benzene ring into the glucosamine molecule, we were able to secure a radioiodinated compound, NβiodobenzoylβDβglucosamine (BGA), with enhanced stability. As a result, a no
