Decompositions of the rigid polycylic &y-unsaturated diasomethyl ketones c&g and i) and ($ and,&) promoted by Cu(acacj2, Cu(OTf)2, Ni(acacj2 or silver benzoatetriethylamine in the presence of methanol are shown to give the respective rearranged y,&unsaturated angularly substituted esters (2~ and b) and (52 and $) along with other products.
