✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel compact broadband printed antenna for mobile handsets is proposed and studied. The proposed antenna occupies an area of 20 × 16 mm^2^, consisting of an inverted‐S monopole for 2‐GHz band and an inverted‐L branch for 3‐GHz band. It achieves a bandwidth of 560 MHz at the 2‐GHz band (1.66–2.22 GHz) and 500 MHz at the 3‐GHz band (3.24–3.74 GHz) for −10 dB return loss, covering GSM (1710–2170 MHz), DCS (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1850–1990 MHz), PHS (1880–1930 MHz), UMTS (1920–2170 MHz), and WiMAX (3400–3600 MHz) bands. Numerical simulation and verifying experimental results are presented and discussed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract This paper presents the design of a wideband printed monopole antenna with inductance loading. This design introduces a loading inductor aimed at decreasing the lowest frequency of the impedance bandwidth, while adjusting the ratio of the patch's length to width in order to increase the
## Abstract A novel compact wideband printed diversity antenna for mobile handsets is presented. The antenna comprises two back‐to‐back G‐shaped monopoles placed symmetrically with respect to a T‐shaped and dual inverted‐L‐shaped ground plane. The measured results show that the proposed diversity a
