✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A multiband monopole antenna with wideband characteristic is proposed for CDMA/GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS/IMT2000/Wibro/WiMAX2350 applications. By using a stripline‐loaded structure, L‐shaped slots in the ground plane and tapered feeding line, wideband characteristic can be achieved. The proposed antenna occupies a volume of 39.7 × 8.3 × 11 mm^3^ barring the ground plane. Moreover, it has good omni‐directional radiation characteristics within its operation band. A prototype has been fabricated and tested, and the experimental results validate the design procedure. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
