## Abstract The __T__Δ__S__^0^ term has been estimated for various types of van der Waals molecules and its importance for the stability predictions has been demonstrated. With hydrogen‐bonded complexes the absolute values of Δ__H__^0^ and __T__Δ__S__~0~ are comparable at 289°K. With true van der W

✦ Synopsis
The recently developed concept of entropy-controlled formation of van der Waais complexes based on standard molar changes of enthalpy and entropy has been found unsatisfactory. A thermodynamically consistent trcxtment shows that actual molar chanses of enthalpy and entropy can depend strongly on esperimental conditions_

Van der Waals complexes composed of naphthalene and triethylamine have been studied in free jet expansions by fluorescence excitation and resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization techniques. Intermolecular vibrational bands with frequencies of 8 and 40 cm-' appear to promote exciplex formation. The
Van der Waals complexes of the bichromophore spirobifluorene with argon, nitrogen, water, methanol, and acetonitrile were studied in a supersonic jet. The 1: 1 complexes have two origin transitions which are shifted to the red and to the blue of the bare bichromophore origin. These spectral shifts a
The relaxation kinetics of N20 and CO2 vibrationally exited molecules (VEhl) in two-phase gas-cluster systems was investigated under conditions of supersonic expansion with condensation. The catalytic effect of clusters on the vibrational relaxation rate was revealed. The relaxation rate of clustere
