β¦ Synopsis
An actively antibiotic producing actinomycete, Streptomyces NRC-101, was isolated from Egypt, ian soil. The strong mtibiotic effect of the fermentation broth of the microorganism on grampositive and gramnegative bacteria led t o experiments for the isolation of the active principle. After isolation and purification its physico-chemical and biological properties were different from the well-known antibiotics. Therefore, it was identified as a new antibiotic designated as antibiotic NRC-101.
