โœฆ Synopsis

Developing a traditional medical library into a resource suitable to support a problemโ€based learning (PBL) curriculum is a major undertaking. Experience at the Medical Library and Information Center in Trondheim, Norway, is described. Key issues have been: developing the basic physical infrastructure and facilities, upgrading librariansโ€™ skills to offer new services and meet new demands, and working closely along side the faculty as curriculum developers. The importance of adequate space to accommodate new facilities and greatly increased use by students is emphasized. The experience has been received very positively by library staff who are continuing to work with the process of change.
