✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The design, simulation, and experimentation steps of a novel low‐cost, small‐size microstrip electromagnetic dual‐band bandgap (DB‐EBG) structure is presented. The numerical simulations are performed via an in‐house‐prepared 3D finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) package and the experiments are carried out using an Agilent‐8714 ES network analyzer. The simulations and measurements confirm that the dual‐stopband characteristics can be controlled via the stub parameters. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A generic lumped‐element circuit of dual‐band bandstop filter (DBBSF) is proposed based on novel composite shunt resonators, and its design method is developed with closed‐form formulas. As an example, a DBBSF with center frequencies of 1.7 and 2.3 GHz is designed and fabricated using m
## Abstract A novel EBG structure is proposed for a tunable and wide stop band (band gap). Although the proposed EBG, which consists of two microstrip open‐loop resonators located back to back, has only one unit cell inserted into the microstrip; it produces the characteristics of the general EBG s
