Abstract
A procedure for the conversion of 3‐hydroxy‐3‐methylglutaric anhydride to methyl 3‐methyl‐3‐butenoate forms the basis for a convenient synthesis of 3‐[^2^H~3~]methyl‐3‐buten‐1‐ol.

A simple and convenient method for the microsynthesis of tritiated 3-methylfuran and trttiated 2-1nethylfuran froa 3furfuryl chloride and 2-furfuryl chloride, respectively, has been described. The tritium label was introduced by reductive dehalogenation with tritiated lithim aluminum hydride.
