Abstract
magnified image A variety of 2‐aryl quinazolines were synthesized from the condensation of 2‐aminobenzylamines and aryl aldehydes to form 2‐aryl‐1,2,3,4‐tetrahydroquinazolines and subsequent oxidation of the intermediates with MnO~2~. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).

An efficient one-pot method to synthesize thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine derivatives has been developed. ## Abstract Careful α‐bromination of ketones with elemental bromine and direct addition of pyrimidine‐2‐thiones and triethylamine renders possible a direct two‐step one‐pot synthesis of the title compounds.
A one-pot combination of a modified Friedländer annulation and a Knoevenagel condensation provides 2styrylquinolines in good to excellent yields. A variety of substrates are reacted in one-pot in the presence of 1-methylimidazolium trifluoroacetate ([Hmim]TFA).
