## Abstract Es wird die Herstellung von 5,6‐Diaryl‐3,4,5‐trihydroxy‐5,6‐dihydro‐2‐pyronen (VIII) beschrieben; diese Verbindungen zeigen die typischen Eigenschaften von Reduktonen. Der Vergleich mit Ascorbinsäure und mit 4‐Phenyl‐2‐hydroxytetronsäure stützt die Dihydro‐α‐pyron‐(Lacton)‐Struktur.
