✦ Synopsis
The title molecule, C~24~H~17~NO~3~S, is the first example of the 1__H__-furo[3,4-b]pyrrole ring system to be described. It crystallizes with three molecules in the asymmetric unit. In each molecule, the fused heterocycle is planar and one of the two phenyl groups on the furan ring is only slightly out of planarity with the furan ring, while the other phenyl group is significantly twisted by 47.6 (4), 48.3 (3) and 54.1 (3)°.
