The title compound, C~7~H~6~F~2~N~2~O, is an important intermediate for the synthesis of biologically active heterocyclic compounds. The hydrazide group is nearly coplanar with the benzene ring. The crystal packing is stabilized by N—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen-bond interactions.
