The title compound, C 14 H 10 N 4 O 10 , was obtained by nitration of 6,6 0 -dimethoxy-2,2 0 -dinitro-1,1 0 -biphenyl in the presence of an excess of fuming nitric acid. In the molecule, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 89.9 (2) . In the crystal structure, molecules are connected
