The title compound, C 14 H 11 N 5 OÁC 3 H 7 NO, was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methoxybenzaldehyde with malononitrile and ammonium acetate under microwave irradiation. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and benzene planes is 56.07 (8) .
