✦ Synopsis

heptan-3-one has been used as a versatile intermediate in the synthesis of 2-deoxy-, 3-deoxy-and ara-cyclopentyl carbocyclic nucleosides. An efficient, short synthesis of the (+) carbocyclic thymidine 13 is reported.
