✦ Synopsis

Oxovanadium(V) complexes of N,N H -dimethylethylenediamine(salicylaldehyde) have been prepared and characterized. The structure of the title compound, [VO 2 (C 11 H 15 N 2 O)], reveals that the vanadium(V) centre is ®ve-coordinate, with a distorted square-pyramidal environment.

In the title compound, [Cu(C 11 H 14 BrN 2 O)(NCS)], the Cu atom is four-coordinated by the NNO donor set of the Schiff base ligand and by the terminal N atom of the thiocyanate anion, forming a square-planar geometry. An N-HÁ Á ÁS hydrogen bond helps to establish the packing.
